Notes

BONAP refers to this species as being a synonym of Nuphar lutea ssp. pumila (Timm) E.O. Beal. However, POWO reports that name as a synonym of Nuphar pumila (Timm) DC. (which is not found in North America) and not of this species.

We were not able to resolve this inconsistency.
