This map is based on our research. We have checked its accuracy to Level 3 ecoregions. Although this plant occurs somewhere in each of these regions, it may only occur in a small part of some or all of them.
This species is agreed-upon to be native to Central Asia; in North America it is planted in landscaping. There are reports of it being introduced in Washington and Idaho but they are inconsistent. We found herbarium specimens from north of Moscow, ID, but none in Washington; BONAP however reports it as only introduced in Yakima County, Washington. We have not yet resolved these inconsistencies; our map reflects this uncertainty.
