Introduced or Not Present |
This tentative map is based on our own research. It may have limited data on Canada and/or Mexico, and there is some subjectivity in our assignment of plants as introduced vs. expanded. Read more in this blog post.
Although this plant occurs somewhere in each of these regions, it may only occur in a small part of some or all of them.
This species is likely also established in the wild in Mexico; we have yet to build this portion of its map.
↑Uses
These hybrids are widely planted in gardens, mostly as named cultivars, where they are valued for their showy flowers as well as their foliage.
↑Related Plants
USDA PLANTS reports this as a hybrid of water canna (Canna glauca) and indian shot (Canna indica). However, POWO reports it as a three-way hybrid, also including the species Canna iridiflora Ruiz & Pav. which is native to Peru and not found in the wild in North America. This species is used as a catch-all for horticultural hybrids which are derived from some combination of these three species.
