This tentative map is based on our own research. It may have limited data on Canada and/or Mexico, and there is some subjectivity in our assignment of plants as introduced vs. expanded. Read more in this blog post.
This is a salt-tolerant grass that has expanded eastward in the north of its range, taking advantage of anthropogenic habitats such as salted roadways; it is not as common as some other grasses that have expanded in this manner, and in the east has only formed a few isolated populations. Our map marks a broader portion of the range as introduced than that reported by BONAP. It seems unlikely that the population they report as native is actually native.
