Although this plant occurs somewhere in each of these regions, it may only occur in a small part of some or all of them.

This is a salt-tolerant grass that has expanded eastward in the north of its range, taking advantage of anthropogenic habitats such as salted roadways; it is not as common as some other grasses that have expanded in this manner, and in the east has only formed a few isolated populations. Our map marks a broader portion of the range as introduced than that reported by BONAP. It seems unlikely that the population they report as native is actually native.
