Notes

What is now considered to be Rumex occidentalis S. Watson by BONAP and POWO, was formerly lumped in with Rumex aquaticus L., a species now considered to be limited to Eurasia, and not found anywhere in North America. North American populations have been separated into their own species. This is why the USDA and some other older sources show Rumex aquaticus L. as occurring in North America whereas modern sources do not.
