Nevada Goldenrod (Solidago spectabilis (D.C. Eaton) A. Gray)
Also known as Basin goldenrod, showy goldenrod.
↑Notes
We recommend against the use of the common name "showy goldenrod" to refer to this species, as it is also used to refer to showy goldenrod (Solidago speciosa). Although these two species do not overlap in range, the name can still be ambiguous, especially as both species have scientific epithets beginning with the same four letters: "spec". Both of the names "Nevada goldenrod" and "basin goldenrod" are accurate and descriptive. This species' range encompasses nearly all of Nevada and is mostly limited to areas either in or adjacent to Nevada. Its range also corresponds mostly to the Great Basin. However the name "basin goldenrod" is potentially ambiguous, as the common name "great basin goldenrod" also refers to threenerve goldenrod (Solidago velutina) subsp. sparsiflora (A.Gray) Semple. For this reason we prefer the name "Nevada goldenrod".
