Pine Violet (Viola lobata Benth.)

Also classified as Viola psychodes Greene.

Both POWO and BONAP have merged Viola psychodes into this species, but they disagree as to the nature of the merge: BONAP has merged it into ssp. integrifolia, whereas POWO, which recognizes integrifolia and lobata as varieties rather than subspecies, has merged it instead into var. lobata. The USDA still considers them separate, so we link to both records.

This tentative map is based on our own research. It may have limited data on Canada and/or Mexico, and there is some subjectivity in our assignment of plants as introduced vs. expanded. Read more in this blog post.

Although this plant occurs somewhere in each of these regions, it may only occur in a small part of some or all of them.

This species is also native to northwest Mexico; we have yet to build this portion of its range map.
