Notes

Many sources use the common name "strict blue-eyed grass" but this is misleading because that name also refers to strict blue-eyed grass (Sisyrinchium strictum), a species for which the descriptor "strict" matches the scientific epithet strictum. This species, on the other hand, has the epithet montanum which corresponds to the descriptor "mountain", so we found it a better descriptor. Furthermore, its distribution and range corresponds fairly well to mountains, being found in much of the the mountainous parts of the interior West as well as New England through Central PA.
