A red oak native to east Texas and Oklahoma.

Notes

Although the common names for this species include "Spanish Oak" and "Texas Oak", we recommend against the use of these names as they are ambiguous and can be misleading. "Spanish Oak" more frequently refers to southern red oak (Quercus falcata), and "Texas Oak" can be confused both with texas live oak (Quercus fusiformis) and Nuttall's oak (Quercus texana), which bears the scientific name that has sometimes (inappropriately) been assigned to this species.
