Dwarf Century Plant (Agave desmettiana Jacobi)
Also classified as Agave desmetiana Jacobi (Alternate Spelling), Agave demeesteriana Jacobi (Alternate Spelling).
The source POWO cites for the name Agave demeesteriana Jacobi has a space between "De" and "Meestriana". Agave demeesteriana would be the natural way to make this name conform to modern standards. However, that name is not widely used. POWO does not even list the most widely-used name Agave desmettiana, but we are unsure of where this and the other alternate spelling originated. At any rate, they all are merely spelling changes and refer to the same taxon.

This tentative map is based on our own research. It may have limited data on Canada and/or Mexico, and there is some subjectivity in our assignment of plants as introduced vs. expanded. Read more in this blog post.
Although this plant occurs somewhere in each of these regions, it may only occur in a small part of some or all of them.
This species is native to northwestern Mexico and Mexico's gulf coast; POWO marks it as "doubtful" in northeast Mexico; we have yet to build the portion of its range map in Mexico.
