Liebmann's Bluestem (Andropogon liebmannii Hack.)

Also known as Mohr's bluestem; also classified as Andropogon mohrii (Hack.) Hack. ex Vasey (Only refers to var. pungensis).

The portion in the US can be referred to as Andropogon liebmannii var. pungensis (Ashe) C.S. Campb., whereas A. liebmannii Hack. var. liebmannii, is found in Mexico; the Mexican population was formerly considered a separate species.

Native or Not Present

This tentative map is based on our own research. It may have limited data on Canada and/or Mexico, and there is some subjectivity in our assignment of plants as introduced vs. expanded. Read more in this blog post.

This species is also native to Mexico, discontiguously with the range in the US; we have yet to build the portion of its range map in Mexico.
