This tentative map is based on our own research. It may have limited data on Canada and/or Mexico, and there is some subjectivity in our assignment of plants as introduced vs. expanded. Read more in this blog post.
Although this plant occurs somewhere in each of these regions, it may only occur in a small part of some or all of them.
This species has been introduced to a number of new areas beyond its native range, and we made some arbitrary judgment calls of where to mark it Introduced vs Expanded, based primarily on separation of distance from native populations. This species is also native to Mexico, but we have yet to build this portion of its map.
↑Control
This species has high invasive potential, particularly in tropical climates. It has already become widely established throughout the tropics, in Africa, South and Southeast Asia, and Australia. We recommend caution against introducing this plant to anywhere beyond its native range.
