This map is based on our research. We have checked its accuracy to Level 3 ecoregions. Although this plant occurs somewhere in each of these regions, it may only occur in a small part of some or all of them.
BONAP reports this species as adventive everywhere in its range in the US, a designation they usually only use for plants native somewhere in the Americas, usually in North America or nearby in Mexico. But all other sources we consulted, including POWO, report this species as native only to Africa through Asia and Australia, and native nowhere in the Americas, so we mark it as introduced. The northeasternmost records, from PA and NJ along the Delaware River near Philadelphia, are reports from the 1800's on ballast which did not persist. This species has also been introduced in Mexico, but we have yet to build this portion of its map.
