Chinese Yam (Dioscorea polystachya Turcz.)
Also classified as Dioscorea oppositifolia auct. (Misapplication).
Many older authorities, including USDA PLANTS, refer to this species as Dioscorea oppositifolia L. in error. That name properly refers to a species native only to South Asia, from India east to Myanmar, and not found anywhere in North America.
