Although this plant occurs somewhere in each of these regions, it may only occur in a small part of some or all of them.

This species is generally agreed to be native to Mexico and southward, although the exact cutoff of its native range is not known. Although some sources report this species as native in some US states, BONAP treats the entire range as adventive. We mark the entire range in the US as Expanded because it is contiguous with the native range and largely connected. We have yet to build the portion of its map in Mexico.
