Although this plant occurs somewhere in each of these regions, it may only occur in a small part of some or all of them.

This species has formed several isolated populations slightly north of its native range. It takes advantage of many anthropogenic habitats including irrigated fields, roadside ditches, and wet portions of lawns. We consider this species expanded because it is spreading on its own and, although it has only formed spotty new populations, it seems to be doing so consistently and it will likely increase over time.
