Although this plant occurs somewhere in each of these regions, it may only occur in a small part of some or all of them.

This species is also native to Mexico, from the Yucatan Peninsula and slightly southwest, but we have not yet built this portion of its range map.

Habitat

Low intertidal zoness in freshwater tidal marshes in the mid-Atlantic U.S., in mucky, sandy, or gravely soils. Prefers disturbed areas on these sites, where there is less competition from other plants.

Occasionally has been found in roadside ditches and wet fields, but not sustaining populations in these habitats.
