This tentative map is based on our own research. It may have limited data on Canada and/or Mexico, and there is some subjectivity in our assignment of plants as introduced vs. expanded. Read more in this blog post.
Although this plant occurs somewhere in each of these regions, it may only occur in a small part of some or all of them.
This species is sometimes cultivated, but is also an aggressive spreader. Probably aided by humans, it has expanded its range northward into more of the US; BONAP considers it native only to Arizona, although we did not find details of its exact native range and different sources report it differently. We consider the entire new range to be expanded because it is well-connected and contiguous with the native range. We have not yet constructed the Mexican portion of the range, but it is thought to be native to parts of Mexico but also expanding there as well.
