This map is based on our research. We have checked its accuracy to Level 3 ecoregions. Although this plant occurs somewhere in each of these regions, it may only occur in a small part of some or all of them.

This plant is widely cultivated in gardens, and sometimes escapes into the wild. Its establishment in new areas is aided by its ability to survive along roadsides and in waste areas. We mark most of its new range as expanded because it is adjacent to the native range, but we mark the populations in Connecticut and Long Island, NY as introduced as they are separated from the rest of the range by long distances. The Utah population could perhaps be marked introduced as well.
