This tentative map is based on our own research. It may have limited data on Canada and/or Mexico, and there is some subjectivity in our assignment of plants as introduced vs. expanded. Read more in this blog post.
Although this plant occurs somewhere in each of these regions, it may only occur in a small part of some or all of them.
This species is relatively inconspicuous and weedy, and is not usually planted. It is considered an undesireable weed in pastures due to being unhealthy to livestock. It has spread both east and west of its native range, probably in part due to agriculture creating more habitat for it and facilitating its spread; it may spread through contaminated hay. We mark the whole new range as expanded because it is mostly contiguous with the native range, and seems to be spreading on its own, but we note that a few populations are relatively isolated and could perhaps be marked introduced.
