This map is based on our research. We have checked its accuracy to Level 3 ecoregions. Although this plant occurs somewhere in each of these regions, it may only occur in a small part of some or all of them.
This plant is widely planted in landscaping, but rarely escapes into the wild, and when it does, it tends not to persist. FSUS marks the PA Piedmont population as a waif, meaning that it did not persist. We searched but did not find any evidence of a persistent population; we will update our map if we find any evidence to the contrary.
↑Notes
We find neither common name particularly good, as both reference scientific genera, Piera and Andromeda. We give preference to Piera because it reflects the more up-to-date taxonomy embraced by most authorities.
