Italian Rye-grass (Lolium multiflorum Lam.)
Also known as annual ryegrass, Australian ryegrass, short rotation ryegrass, Westerwolds ryegrass, darnel; also classified as Lolium perenne var. multiflorum (Lam.) Parn., Lolium perenne subsp. multiflorum (Lam.) Husn.
Some authorities, including BONAP and USDA PLANTS, treat this taxon as a subspecies of perennial ryegrass (Lolium perenne), ssp. multiflorum. We treat them as separate species per FNA, POWO, and most other authorities.
