Although this plant occurs somewhere in each of these regions, it may only occur in a small part of some or all of them.
This species has also been introduced in Canada; we have yet to build this portion of its range map. We have not yet verified whether or not it is also found in Mexico, but its range extends into the southwestern US so it may also occur in Mexico.
↑Notes
This species is a "naturally occurring" hybrid in the sense that it arose as a spontaneous hybridization of the two hybrid species. However, it is not natural in the sense that the two parent species did not occur together on the same site until humans introduced Populus nigra to North America as a landscaping plant.
We treat it as an introduced plant, a convention that BONAP, but not the USDA, follows.
