Although this plant occurs somewhere in each of these regions, it may only occur in a small part of some or all of them.
This species is fairly widely planted outside its native range, and theoretically could escape into the wild with its bird-dispersed seeds, but this has yet to happen widely. BONAP reports this species as adventive in Missouri; we mark it expanded because the reported site is near its native range. The seeds of this species can remain dormant for many years, so it is possible that it may expand more, but these expansions may take many years to become evident.
