POWO treats the accepted name for this species as Podophyllum cymosum (Michx.) Christenh. & Byng, but as the reference for the name cites only a 2018 self-published volume that is not available online, whose Amazon listing is dysfunctional, to say the least, and whose official website contains a number of broken or non-functional links and little information about the volume itself. We also searched and were unable to find any documentation explaining the name change, nor could we find any instances of the new name in the scholarly literature. For these reasons, we have retained the old name.
