Although this plant occurs somewhere in each of these regions, it may only occur in a small part of some or all of them.
This species is also native to southern Mexico, south through Central America and into the Caribbean outside the scope of our site. We have yet to build the portion of the map in Mexico.

The Taino common name "guayacán" which was also borrowed into Spanish, refers to the whole genus of plants, not this species specifically.
