This tentative map is based on our own research. It may have limited data on Canada and/or Mexico, and there is some subjectivity in our assignment of plants as introduced vs. expanded. Read more in this blog post.

This species is native to the southwest and Mexico, but has expanded its range somewhat into the southeast, largely as landscaping escapes. Different sources disagree about whether or not it is native to Texas and New Mexico; we follow BONAP's convention assuming it is expanded here. We mark southeastern populations as Expanded as well even thuogh they are separated by longer distances because there is a clear pattern of expansion with gaps becoming shorter approaching the native range. We have yet to build the portion of this species' map in Mexico.
