Although this plant occurs somewhere in each of these regions, it may only occur in a small part of some or all of them.
The exact native range of this plant is not known, but it is generally-agreed to be native somewhere in South and/or Central America, and to have expanded its range greatly due to human influence. We mark it as Expanded because its range in North America is likely contiguous with its native range, although there are a few large gaps in its range, and if it is only native to South America, it could be classified as Introduced instead. We have yet to build the portion of its range map in Mexico, where it is widespread.
