Although this plant occurs somewhere in each of these regions, it may only occur in a small part of some or all of them.

This species is widely agreed to be native to parts of the central to southwestern US and south through Mexico into Central and South America. However, it has expanded its range due to humans introducing it to new areas. Different sources disagree as to where exactly it is native; we mark it Expanded in California since Calflora lists it as non-native, but native in Arizona, and native in Florida but expanded in most of the other eastern states. We have yet to build the portion of the map in Mexico.
