This map is based on our research. We have checked its accuracy to Level 3 ecoregions. Although this plant occurs somewhere in each of these regions, it may only occur in a small part of some or all of them.

This species is generally agreed-upon to be native to Mexico southward; it is now found well into the US, and the exact extent of its native range is not known. BONAP marks it adventive everywhere in the US, but FSUS marks the populations from the peninsular parts of the Florida coastal plain as possibly native; our map reflects this uncertainty. We mark the new parts of the range Expanded because they are contiguous with the native range with almost no gaps. We have yet to build the portion of the map in Mexico.
