This map is based on our research. We have checked its accuracy to Level 3 ecoregions. Although this plant occurs somewhere in each of these regions, it may only occur in a small part of some or all of them.
This aggressive, weedy species is widely agreed to be native to somewhere in Mexico and through Central America, and to be introduced in the US. Because its new range is largely connected and contiguous with the native range, we mark the entire range in the US as Expanded. We have yet to build the portion of its map in Mexico. We have also not yet been able to establish even an approximate extent of its original native range in Mexico but it is likely expanded in parts of Mexico as well. There have been sporadic occurrences north of the mapped range here, but it has yet to persist in these areas. However this plant has been increasing and it may be under-reported.
