Closely related to Broadleaf Enchanter's Nightshade (Circaea lutetiana), with which it can hybridize where the ranges overlap. C. lutetiana has a more southerly distribution and is found at lower altitudes where ranges overlap.
The broader evening primrose species contains numerous other species.
