Humans have introduced this species to new areas and also facilitated its expansion in a few places, while leading to its decline in many areas through habitat destruction. It can sometimes thrive in anthropogenic habitats including pastures, fields, fencerows, and edge habitats, but it is sensitive to too much disturbance. We mark new eastern populations expanded due to proximity to its native range, but the western populations introduced due to their isolation and separation from other populations by regions where this species probably could not grow.
