This small weedy plant readily colonizes anthropogenic habitats including roadsides and agricultural fields. Its exact native range is unknown, but it is widely-agreed that it has expanded greatly, especially in the East. We mark isolated populations in Montana and on the West Coast as introduced, and others as expanded as they are contiguous with its native range.
