↑Habitat
Found in rich woods, on rocky hillsides, ridges or ledges, savannas, and streambanks, especially on calcium-rich soils. Also found in anthropogenic habitats including abandoned fields, cemetaries, roadsides, and other disturbed areas. Relative to the similar R. abortivus, this species is more likely to occur in undisturbed natural habitats.
Usually found in wet-to-mesic conditions, especially locally-wet sites like seeps, in drier habitats.
