Heartleaf Foamflower (Tiarella cordifolia L.)

This species was recently split by Nesom (2021) into several different species, including creeping foamflower (Tiarella stolonifera); although this split is accepted by POWO and a few other authorities, because it is so new, range distributions for the individual species have not been worked out. Our current map shows the distribution of the old species concept, but is no longer accurate. The current distribution of this species is much more restricted.

This tentative map is based on our own research. It may have limited data on Canada and/or Mexico, and there is some subjectivity in our assignment of plants as introduced vs. expanded. Read more in this blog post.

Although this plant occurs somewhere in each of these regions, it may only occur in a small part of some or all of them.
