Range - Expand

Native or Not Present

This tentative map is based on our own research. It may have limited data on Canada and/or Mexico, and there is some subjectivity in our assignment of plants as introduced vs. expanded. Read more in this blog post.

This species is fairly widely planted outside its native range, and theoretically could escape into the wild with its bird-dispersed seeds, but this has yet to happen widely. BONAP reports this species as adventive in Missouri; we mark it expanded because the reported site is near its native range. The seeds of this species can remain dormant for many years, so it is possible that it may expand more, but these expansions may take many years to become evident.
