Lesser Yellow Lady's Slipper (Cypripedium parviflorum Salisb.)

Also classified as Cypripedium pubescens Willd. > Cypripedium parviflorum var. pubescens (Willd.) O.W.Knight.

This species is broken into four varieties by POWO, and only three by USDA PLANTS. These varieties are sometimes treated as separate species, such as var. pubescens being treated as Cypripedium pubescens. We treat them as varieties, following the conventions of POWO and FSUS, and we note that FSUS tends to split species more than most authorities so it is uncommon to separate them.

This tentative map is based on our own research. It may have limited data on Canada and/or Mexico, and there is some subjectivity in our assignment of plants as introduced vs. expanded. Read more in this blog post.

Although this plant occurs somewhere in each of these regions, it may only occur in a small part of some or all of them.
