This photo shows a basal rosette of a Rudbeckia hirta black-eyed Susan plant on a very cold day in winter. This photo was taken near the daytime high of 18°F(-8°C); the low had been 9°F(-13°C) earlier in the morning. This plant is able to stay evergreen even in winters with such cold conditions.
