Although this plant occurs somewhere in each of these regions, it may only occur in a small part of some or all of them.

This plant is widely planted in gardens, but readily escapes into the wild and also spreads on its own. It has established north of its native range consistently across its range. We have marked all such populations as expanded; most are contiguous with the native range, and there is a clear pattern of numerous isolated populations as one approaches the northern range limit. Abandoned agriculture has widely created new habitat for it. It will likely continue to expand.
