This tentative map is based on our own research. It may have limited data on Canada and/or Mexico, and there is some subjectivity in our assignment of plants as introduced vs. expanded. Read more in this blog post.

This species has been widely cultivated in gardens. It frequently escapes although populations in more northerly regions often struggle. It is typically able to survive along roadsides, railroads, and in waste areas. We have marked all new populations in North America as expanded because they are found relatively consistently across much of the continent, and accounting for gaps of small distances, are consistently connected to its native range. It is also native to Mexico but we have yet to build this portion of its map.
