Although this plant occurs somewhere in each of these regions, it may only occur in a small part of some or all of them.

This grass is usually considered an undesireable weed, with people often expending resources to control it. In spite of this, it has expanded northeastward in much of its range, taking advantages of roadsides, railroads, fallow fields, and vacant lots, particularly in areas with gravel.
