This tentative map is based on our own research. It may have limited data on Canada and/or Mexico, and there is some subjectivity in our assignment of plants as introduced vs. expanded. Read more in this blog post.

Although this plant occurs somewhere in each of these regions, it may only occur in a small part of some or all of them.

This species has established outside its range, with help from garden escapes, but most of these areas are adjacent to its native range and it is likely also spreading on its own. Most of these new populations we have marked as Expanded, because they are either contiguous with the native range or separated only by small gaps, except for the ones in Virginia and Massachussets which we marked Introduced because they are separated by large distances. These represent subjective judgment calls, and we may update this map if information changes. This species is also native to northern to central Mexico, but we have yet to build this portion of its range map.
