This tentative map is based on our own research. It may have limited data on Canada and/or Mexico, and there is some subjectivity in our assignment of plants as introduced vs. expanded. Read more in this blog post.
This species is native to the eastern US, but is now found in much of the west as well. We have marked most of these new populations as Introduced because they are mostly separated by large areas, mostly semiarid regions in the western great plains, where this plant does not occur. However, we may update this map if we find that some of the southwestern populations are contiguous with the native range in Mexico; this species is also native to northern Mexico and we have yet to build this portion of its range map.
