Although sources generally agree on where this species occurs, different sources report wildly different cutoffs on where it is native. It is generally agreed-upon to be native to the mountain West, the central US, and part of the southeast, and to have expanded to the West Coast. Go Botany also claims it is introduced in SC, GA, NV, and AZ, in addition to anyhwere in New England. For now our map mostly follows BONAP's convention. In addition, this species is also native to Mexico and present (possibly native) in Canada; we have yet to build these portions of its map.
