This tentative map is based on our own research. It may have limited data on Canada and/or Mexico, and there is some subjectivity in our assignment of plants as introduced vs. expanded. Read more in this blog post.

Although this plant occurs somewhere in each of these regions, it may only occur in a small part of some or all of them.

We found wildly conflicting data about where this plant is native vs. introduced. POWO considers it native only to Europe, western to Central Asia, and north Africa, and introduced everywhere in North America. Botany considers it adventive everywhere in the US. However many regional sources consider it native in various parts of the US and we also found some sources saying it had a circumboreal native range and has expanded southward due to human influence. We have not yet resolved these discrepancies, so for now our map shows only where this species occurs and we make no claim of its status as native or introduced. This species also occurs in Canada, Alaska, and Mexico, but we have yet to build these portions of its map.
