Although this plant occurs somewhere in each of these regions, it may only occur in a small part of some or all of them.

This species is planted in gardens as well as in restoration plantings, including outside its range, and as a result has expanded its range in the northeast as well as establishing a few isolated populations southwest of its native range in the Midwest. We mark all of these as expanded because of their proximity to native populations.
