This map is based on our research. We have checked its accuracy to Level 3 ecoregions. Although this plant occurs somewhere in each of these regions, it may only occur in a small part of some or all of them.
This species is rare and endangered around the edges of its range, and has been extirpated in parts of it. However it also has been introduced in Massachusetts. We mark these populations as expanded because they are near the native range and separated from it by similar distances to those between native populations of this species.
↑Related Plants
This genus also contains hammockherb (Hasteola robertiorum), endemic to Florida; the ranges do not even come close to overlapping. The genus also contains Hasteola robusta native to Japan and not occurring in North America, although some authorities recognize more species.
There are numerous other species, both native and introduced, in the broader Senecioneae tribe, that occur in North America.
