This tentative map is based on our own research. It may have limited data on Canada and/or Mexico, and there is some subjectivity in our assignment of plants as introduced vs. expanded. Read more in this blog post.
Although this plant occurs somewhere in each of these regions, it may only occur in a small part of some or all of them.
This species has also been introduced in Canada, but we have yet to build this portion of its range map.
↑Notes
We recommend against the use of the common name "sericea lespedeza" for two reasons. One, it references the scientific genus Lespedeza and in general we recommend against including scientific names in common names, because scientific names, particularly genera, can change due to reclassifications, and this creates a scenario where the common name becomes confusing or misleading. In the case of this particular scientific name, the name as a whole also sounds a lot like a scientific name, as if Sericea were the genus, which it is not. We prefer the common name "Chinese Bush Clover" because "bush clover" widely refers to the Lespedeza genus, and this species is indeed native to China (and beyond) so this name is at least somewhat descriptive.
