This species is occasionally grown ornamentally and can escape cultivation. It also can be weedy and aggressive, and spreads readily along roadsides and railroads. These factors have combined to lead it to expand east and southeast of its native range; we marked all these new populations expanded because they are mostly contiguous with its native range.
